The thing about Johnny Mnemonic is that even though it's filled with imperfections and silly things, it's still very cyberpunk, which is why I still manage to enjoy it. I'm sure it could have been better than what it is, because of Gibson's own involvement, but as it is, I still find myself revisiting it now and again. I hope they manage to get Neuromancer off the ground, I'd love to see that one get made right.

Franco Macabrohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10994905312221715861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7959025705353546660.post-75042192331913160112014-08-19T12:36:06.717-07:002014-08-19T12:36:06.717-07:00I couldn't have said it better myself my frien...I couldn't have said it better myself my friend. It's got some decent ideas and good visuals but that's it really. The cast is pretty damn good (with the exception of Ice-T - who should be banned from acting in anything). Lundgren stands out as the best of the bunch, he really commits to role. I didn't even realise it was him until the end credits.

It's just all let down by the cruddy story (despite the fact Gibson wrote it himself). It's quite a slog to watch. I can't remember where I read it but I'm sure Gibson said originally it was meant to be a very low budget film and but then a major studio got involved and asked for loads of rewrites.

Still waiting for Vincenzo Natali to get the film adaptation of Neuromancer off the ground. I think he'd knock that one out the park.Jack Thursbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03101157160144955486noreply@blogger.com
